The North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) is the smallest of the four main provinces of Pakistan. The NWFP is home to the majority Pashtuns (locally referred to as Pukhtuns) as well as other smaller ethnic groups.
The NWFP is fast improving its educational set up and putting in huge resources to for the cause of education in the state.
NWFP is home to Pakistan's leading engineering university -Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, located in Topi, a town in Swabi district. The University of Peshawar, University of Gondhara and Gomal University are other notable institution of higher learning of the province.
